Official holidays in Kosovo, legally defined, are: New Year's Day, Independence Day of the Republic of Kosovo, Constitutional Day of the Republic of Kosovo, International Labour Day, Day of Europe, Bajrami the Great, Bajrami the Little, Catholic Christmas, Orthodox Christmas, Catholic Easter and Orthodox Easter.
For the first five months of the year, by law, Kosovars have nine parties. And these bring back numerous rest days.
Along these religious and state holidays, but which are all on the official holiday calendar, which means that they are holiday days in Kosovo during this time, ten days of work would be fired.
The law for official holidays in Kosovo, adopted in 2008, covers 11 holidays and is respected by public institutions. But not of all private sector businesses.
Under the law, “when official holiday days fall on Saturday or Sunday, holiday breaks are the next working days ) Monday's”

Thus, this year, six in a row Monday in Kosovo, ranging from April 11th to May 9th, are holiday days, based on the Law for Official Holidays, which, despite initiatives, was never changed because of disagreements in the Kosovo Assembly by different political groups, especially minority ones.
Therefore, on Saturday, April 9th, Kosovo Constitutional Day was marked, but the holiday was Monday. On Sunday, April 17, Catholic Easter was celebrated as it was conquered on Monday.
On Sunday, April 24, Orthodox Easter was celebrated, but Monday by law was a day of rest. Today is Sunday, May 1st, International Labor Day, but on Monday, May 2nd is a day off.
Meanwhile, on Monday, May 2nd, is also the first day of the Great Bayram, so vacation is even May 3rd.
In addition, on Monday, May 9th, it is also a holiday, because Kosovo celebrates Europe Day, a holiday which in many cases is not celebrated even by countries that are EU members.
The law for official holidays, has entered the process of change and has been passed to the Commission for Public Administration, Local Powers, Media and Regional Development.
The paradox, however, is that the only change that has been made is the addition of another Egyptian Community Day festival, marked 24 June.

Whenever this law has been in order day in the Kosovo Assembly, MPs from the Serb community have not participated in the session, making it impossible to change it, at least at the point that when the holiday falls on Saturday or Sunday, it will not be fired Monday.
Besides these festivals, the law stipulates eight memorial days, but there is no rest for them.
As for countries in the region, Albania has 14 official holidays, which push them on working days, if they fall on Saturday or Sunday.
The holidays are also held in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, while in Montenegro and Northern Macedonia they are held on Monday only if they fall Sunday. / RTK
