The Kalush Orchestra, the Ukrainian bandi who has won the best song at Eurovision this year, has sold the trophy for $90,000 to raise money for the war in Ukraine.
The crystal microphone was sold at a Facebook auction, with the aim of buying drones for the Ukrainian Army.
Ukrainian sponsor Serhiy Prytula has said that the money raised by the trophy sale will be used for purchase of three Ukrainian PD-2 drones, news agency Reuters reported.
The trophy was sold on the day the band was shown at a charity concert in Berlin, with the goal of collecting money for health care and other supplies.
Speaking during the concert, group member Oleh Psiu has called on people not to get used to the war, which has left 4,031 people dead and over 4,730 injured, according to the United Nations.
The number of dead warriors is still unknown.
The Russian invasion in Ukraine on February 24th has prompted over 14 million people to flee their homes until the towns have become rubble.
I think war should always be on the forehead until we have peace”, Psyuk said. / REL
