COMM The STT has reacted after the Appeals Court's decision against expensive electricity, saying that such a thing risks the security of operating the system, other agreements with international institutions, as well as achievements in the independence of Kosovo's Electronic System operation.
The rise in the price of electricity is a consequence of the global energy crisis and has affected all European countries, so reflection of this cost in additional revenues is necessary, said the communique.
COMM The STT says that, as a result of the energy import and inadequate revenues prices for cost coverage, significant deviations have been caused to the continental European Electronic System, which have costs, and mutual debts have been caused between companies in the energy sector.
The major efforts to the intercontact system are not in line with the COST Agreement. ENTSO-E and submit additional financial obligations to COSTT as an independent regulatory zone, further emphasis on communiqués.
COMM STT raises its voice on the inability to cover the costs caused and those expected to occur unless urgent measures are taken to address the sector's cost issue, whether through increased tariffs or subsidies.
“If these actions do not occur then the security of the country's electricity supply will be jeopardised, measures for reducing consumption will be applied, as well as seriously jeopardised by the COST/ ENTSO-E”, conclusion communiqué.
Otherwise, Kosovo citizens in the past two months have been billed at new electricity prices, which have entered into force on February 9th and were scheduled to be valid by 31st March 2023.
The process in court to suspend the decision to expensive the electricity has started after the PDK-led indictment.
The Kosovo Appeals Court confirmed the Constitutional Court's decision in Pristina that suspended the ZERE's decision on new tariffs, saying it was unfounded.
During expensive tariffs, citizens who spend over 800 kilowatt pay 12.5 cents per kilowatt, while during low 5.9 cents. For those who do not consume over 800 kilowatts, they continue to pay 7 cents per kilowatt during expensive tariffs and 3 cents during free tariffs.
After the Court of Appeals ruling, Z. RRE has said that this decision will be implemented.
