Carpenter: Looking forward to the day when Kosovo will be OSCE participating state

Ambassador of the United States Michael Carpenter has published his comments on the O chief's report. The SEU, Michael Davenport, for the Republic of Kosovo.

Carpenter said US strongly supports O mission work The SEU in Kosovo and praised close co-operation in supporting Kosovo's developments as a safe, democratic and inclusive member of the European community of nations.

Carpenter stressed that O mission work The SEU is even more important in Kosovo, taking into account Russia's war in Ukraine, which underlines the need to protect the values on which O is based The SEU and the Mission seeks to advance through its mandate and work.

The US ambassador to the OSCE has cited the November 2021 local elections, saying it has been a major achievement that the CEC has managed to organise these elections without the support of the OSCE mission. Also, the head of the US permanent mission to the OSCE has said that these elections have produced many officials for the first time, which is a testimony to the vitality and democracy in Kosovo.

US Mission also says it appreciates the fact that O The SEU had expressed readiness to support Serb participation fairly in Kosovo in Serbia's elections.

We encourage the continued prioritization of your team's efforts for democratisation, along with good governance and gender equality in local governance. We also congratulate the Mission's readiness to support once again the participation of Kosovo Serbs fairly in Serbia's” elections, the communiqué published on the official US Mission to the OSCE site reports.

The US mission is said to be closely monitoring the incidents they have had to target Kosovo Police in the north, saying they condemn such and seek investigation.

So we welcome this practice and encourage it to continue in the future. We believe it is unfortunate that Kosovo is not a member of this body and therefore is unable to speak for itself.
