British Intelligence: Russia is intensifying operations in Donbas

Russia is increasing its intensity of operations in the eastern region of Donbas, Ukraine, according to a statement by the United Kingdom Defence Ministry.

Russian forces are seeking to surround Severodonnetsk, Lyschansk and Rubizhne, the Defence Ministry, writes BBC.

But Russian troops have faced strong resistance from Ukrainians.

“Russia, however, has achieved some localised successes, partly due to heavy artillery systems,” emphasised British intelligence.

The capture of Severodonnetsk from Russia would have the entire Luhansk region under Russian forces control.
