Albanian government on aircraft, 32 flights for three weeks, 2.1m leks

Albania's state administration has spent 18 thousand euros on overseas travel in less than three weeks. In fact, the sum is even higher if the hotel and diet are involved. Vienna, Athens and Italy remain more frequented by state employees, while several cases of cancelled flights are also recorded. [...]
Although the government has declared for months that the country has been in crisis since the start of the war in Ukraine, leaders of public institutions do not stop travel abroad.
From April 8th to Monday this month, the administration has purchased airline tickets with various destinations that total over $2.1m, or say, about 18 thousand euros.
These do not include food diets, hotels and other planned trips are still under way, or canceled.
According to data from the Public Procurement Agency (APP) in total, procedures for 32 flights have been finalised, with Vienna, mostly the Brussels route, Athens and Luksenburg. They are employees of state institutions, ministries, universities and the Albanian Federation of Vojelball, who have carried out these trips.
Morocco is another destination chosen by the state administration, as the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs has bought tickets at a cost of $160,000, while 2 other trips with this location are planned by Tirana Water-Canalisation.
Other trips during this period have taken place in Hungary, Poland, France, Belgium and Italy. But there is no shortage of flights to Washington and New York, which has no record of how much the Ministry of Finance and the municipality of Tirana will spend.
According to the APP, some procedures have been cancelled with the argument that travel date has changed, the insolvency of contractor authority or for organisational reasons.
Other procedures with travel ticket purchases, expected to cost the state budget thousands more, have been opened.
