Weather services in Germany have confirmed on Saturday morning that three tornadoes have hit North Reich Westphalia.
According to them, tornadoes are registered in Paderborn, Lippstad and Lutmarsen.
In Paderborn, 43 people were injured, police told the news agency dpa.
Among them was a seriously injured person.
Police have said they have reported major damage to housing and commercial areas.
According to this institution, many homes have been destroyed and many trees removed from the ground.
Powerful winds have been reported in other parts of Germany, including Bavarina.
The Czech Republic has also reported considerable damage as a result of powerful winds.
