Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky has said Russian forces have faced irreversible loss “” since the beginning of their invasion 48 days ago.
Remember how Russia boasted it would invade Kiev for 48 hours? In 48 hours, which lasted for 48 days, the Russian Army reached a level of irreparable losses higher than the Soviet Union during the ten years of war in Afghanistan”, said Zelensky, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
Russia's initial plan to attack Ukrainian capital Kiev, when war first began on February 24th, stalled after its troops suffered major losses. Analysts say Moscow downplayed the strength of resistance and the capabilities of Ukraine's smaller armed forces.
Russia has also struggled with bases. Their armoured columns are out of fuel, food, and ammunition. Cars are broken and abandoned, then attracted to Ukrainian tractors.
Russian forces have now completely withdrawn from Kiev capital and are building their military forces in the eastern regions of Donetsk and Luhansk.
