Among the terrifying photographs of the dead bodies in Butka, on the outskirts of Kiev, when Russian troops are accused of committing atrocities against Ukrainian citizens, one was spotted by Anasatasia Subachevas, a model-up artist from the nearby city of Gostomel, writes The New York Times, conveys Periscopi.
In this photograph she recognised a well arranged hand with a lark of red and white fingernails that she had seen many times holding a brush or a lipstick, or glistening her eyes during her lessons for make-up.
Now it lies lifeless on the street, covered with mud.
When I saw her, I felt as if my heart was breaking”, Subacheva said in a phone call Wednesday from the town of Kropyvnytsky, the town where she left with her family.
Subacheva, who has been a model-up artist in Butka for five years, said she knew a lot of women there because she made model-up for many of them.
The photographed woman, Iryna Filkina, 52-year-old, an operator at the heating center, had arrived at Mrs. Subacheva in February where she had asked for lessons made-up. She dreamed of becoming famous and increasing the number of her followers in the Instagram, recalling the make-up artist.
To that end, she says, Filkina wanted to help her become beautiful and fashionable. She was excited about a next concert by Ukrainian pop diva, Olya Polyakova, and both had talked about what she would wear and how it would be arranged for the event.
I finally understood the most important thing: You must love yourself and live for yourself”, recall Filkina's words.
I'm finally living my life the way I want”
But the war brought an end to these dreams.
Filkina's daughter, Olha, who had left Butka after the start of the war, said she had learned the news on March 6th that her mother was killed the day before she was coming home from work with bicycles.
Even after a month, the girl still has hope that her mother may still be alive.
I understand that such a thing is not possible because it has not been reported since one month”, Olha said in a message to the social telegram network on Wednesday.
But a child will always be waiting for his mother”, he adds.
On Friday-on Filkinas-Olha's birthday she received a video of her mother lying on the ground as well as her photographed hand.
Even if there were no manicure, I would know my mother's hand”, she says.
She says she's still looking for her mother's body to bury her. /Periscope
