The man is sentenced to 650 years in prison for a series of sexual crimes

A man from Indiana has been sentenced to 650 years in prison for his 30-year-old sexual crimes, for which he was convicted after investigators matched his DNA from a lollipop with samples found in some of the crime scenes. Steven Ray Hessler was found guilty of 19 counts of crimes against 10 victims. [...]
Steven Ray Hessler was convicted of 19 counts of crimes against the 10 victims between 1982 and 1985 on March 3rd.
The charges included charges of rape, illegal conduct, criminal deviations and robbery.
In all cases, he entered the victims' homes, attacked them, and left. For decades his crimes remained undiscovered. He avoided being convicted for years, even though the police had his DNA on file from other crimes.
Prosecutors used an advanced genetic testing technique in a sample found by one of his crimes.
Hessler was eventually charged after police checked a utility bill in 2020, after he licked the envelope. The victims testified to how he entered their homes in a hood or ski mask, beat them, and stole them.
He targeted men and women, sexually assaulting every female victim and beating the male victims.
Shelby County Attorney Brad Landerlen said: Steve Ray Hessler is one of the worst, most dangerous predators I've had the pleasure of prosecuting in my 30-year career. He gained great satisfaction from his brutal unnecessary methods of terrorisation and sexual torture of his victims”, the Klankosova.tv. broadcast.
