At the congress, besides delegates from Kosovo, participants in the solemn part are guests from the Balkan unions in Europe.
The SBASK chairman, Nundman Jasharaj, in the opening address originally honored all professors who died from COVID-19.
He has added that the biggest victory during this leadership of the SBASK was the adoption of the 90s law to reward all colleagues who have made sacrifices in a difficult period for the country.
Jasharaj has invited the government for reflection so that further wage requirements can be met.
I wish that both we and August and the new government would reflect so that we would not go into actions that neither we nor the people of Kosovo”, he said.
Education Minister Arberie Nagavci spoke at the opening of the congress about the role of teachers, until she said they are dealing with all the injustices they have been subjected to.
She has declared that this year there are 40,000 less students, but none of the teachers have lost their jobs.
We only have about 40,000 students this year less than last year, but we've seen to it that none of our teachers are out of work. Soon 100 assistants with children with special needs will start working soon. The Ministry of Education has earmarked the 1.7m-euro grant to health-inflicted teachers”, she has said.
Congress will continue operations throughout the day, while in the afternoon the names of new leadership, chairman and other organs will be made known, while it is expected to be known about the actions this union can take if salaries for educators are not raised. /kp
