A Western official has confirmed that Russia has restructured its command of operations in Ukraine, with the new general having had extensive experience in combat operations in Syria.
Speaking to the BBC on condition of anonymity, the source said the commander of Russia's southern military district, General Alexander Dvornikov, now heads the invasion.
This commander has a lot of experience in Russian operations in Syria. So we'll expect general command and control to improve”, the source said.
The new deployment took place in an effort to improve co-ordination among different entities, as Russian groups were previously organised and commanded separately, the official said.
Russia has so far struggled to achieve its war goals 44 days after the invasion, failing to invade major cities such as Kiev before eventually turning its sights into the Donbas region to the east, Klankosova follows. tv
The official said Russian tactics had seen them contained by a smaller number of Ukrainian units operating more intelligent and surprisely, despite Russia's thought to have a considerable “ ” force of slightly less than 100 operational battalion tactical groups.
“If Russia is unable to change its tactics, it is very difficult to see how they succeed in these limited goals that have restored it by” themselves, the official said.
The added official political initiatives may have a priority over military priorities, with Russia pushing ahead to achieve some kind of success before May 9th, when the country marks victory in World War II.
