“I hope Germany, in addition to doing its part in fulfilling the process and accepting it from the entire European Council, the unanimous landing table for negotiations with Albania and North Macedonia, to meet visa liberalisation for Kosovo at the EU level. It is a process deserved for many years, but blocked and I hope it releases”, Rama said.
Otherwise, Kosovo is the only country in the region that still does not enjoy the right to free movement in EU countries.
The German commits itself to membership negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz gave this promise at the joint press conference with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama today in Berlin.
He said Albania has made steps towards rule of the law human rights and the fight against corruption and organised crime.
“Coordination in the face of an aggressive Russian approach against Ukraine. It makes it clear and painful that European achievements are not self-intelligible we must engage every day from scratch. Germany insists on membership negotiations with Albania and Northern Macedonia. This is of crucial importance to the region and Europe. Albania takes constructive responsibility as non-permanent OBB member, NATO, the OSCE and many international forums”, Scholz said.
At the joint press conference in Scholz called for the Russian president's ceasefire in the fight against Ukraine, as he announced the signing tomorrow in Tirana of the agreement on mutual recognition of patents.
Together we ask Putin for a ceasefire and to hold peace negotiations. Our relations with Albania are excellent. License recognition agreement is signed in Tirana tomorrow. Albania has made major steps towards rule of law and human rights and the fight against corruption and organised crime. I want to encourage you to keep applying.
