Yesterday, Finland and Sweden marked important steps on their path towards NATO membership, with the Finnish government launching a security report on lawmakers, while the ruling party in Sweden launched a review of security policy, writes Sky News, Periscope follows.
Responding to these developments, former Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev said there would be consequences if something like that happened.
Speaking this morning, Medvedev said there would be no more talks on a nuclear-free region in Baltic, adding that “the balance should be restored”.
He also said that if the membership of two Scandinavian states occurs, Russia would have these states as registered opponents and would take measures in the region.
