Osmani: Some officials suspected of spying activities in Bulgaria

Northern Macedonia Foreign Affairs Minister Bujar Osmani said on Sunday (April 3rd) that several persons of Macedonian institutions who, according to him, have carried out spying activities with Bulgarian authorities, have been demotivated not to work on resolving the conflict with Bulgaria. Osman's statement comes a day after [...]
Osman's statement comes a day after that of Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov, who also said there are suspected pro-Russian orientations working to break up reports with northern Macedonia.
Macedonian diplomacy chief Bujar Osmani said people suspected of propaganda against resolving the dispute have allegedly linked it to lack of political stability and possible parliamentary elections.
The more options they are increasing to find a solution to accelerate the European road, the more concerned people who have worked throughout this time to prevent this prospect from happening. Here I will take a concrete example -- this week some people from Northern Macedonia have called Bulgaria, saying that all commitment is unnecessary because there will be quick elections, that there will be early elections, and that there cannot be reached” solution, Osmani said.
According to him, “such efforts are from people in institutions that are in line with Bulgarian Prime Minister Petkov's comments, that there are people who will try to keep the issue open with Bulgaria, to keep the European integration process blocked so that this region is always an area for someone to use to achieve its” goals.
However, Osmnan has not provided details as to who these people are who have “captured” in Sofia or what positions they hold in the institutions of Northern Macedonia.
Osmani said that “region, EU member states, the EU, the transatlantic Alliance, needs strategic leadership in this period so that the region can consolidate security, politically and economically”.
Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov said on Saturday that suspected Russian spies in Bulgarian institutions are working to undermine relations between Sofia and Skopje.
For the spying event, Sofia suspects three Bulgarians, two of whom worked at the State Agency for National Security and third in a ministry.
Bulgarian authorities do not disclose their identity or their <x0spiration activity”.
The prime ministers of Northern Macedonia and Bulgaria, Dimitar Kovacevski and Kiril Petkov, said on March 28th there is no exception for the two countries soon to resolve the dispute on Macedonian language and identity, as well as the historical past between the two countries.
