The recovery has come in the second half of the year, while the first half, when the pandemic marked another wave in Europe, was poor for tourism.
The third quarter of 2021 was the only one to mark an equal income of the same period of prepandemia, reaching 786m euros.

Even in the fourth quarter, revenues were almost the same period as the 2019.
Tourists from Kosovo bore the main burden and compensated for the decline in other tourists from Europe, who did not even return to the country in 2021.
According to INSTAT, the weight of tourists from Kosovo to 2021 was 47% of the total, from 33% to 2019.

The Bank of Albania's data suggests that Albanians' abroad travel expenses stood at 1.1 billion euros in 2021, which, although almost doubled in proportion to a year ago, remained 32% lower compared to 2019.
The restrictions many European states held in force during the past summer and in recent months of the year have caused many Albanians not to plan travel abroad, BalkanWeb reports.
Other INSTAT data shows that in 2021 there were 4.2 million exits of Albanian citizens -- from 5.9 million to 2019 -- with a drop of nearly 30%.
