The mayor of the city says firmly: Marioupolis will never surrender for the sake of peace

Marioupol Mayor said the besieged city will never surrender, as he urged Western allies to offer more weapons to help Ukraine in its fight against Russian forces.

The “will never rise to be handed over to Marioupol for the sake of peace. We can only return what is ours and Mariupol has been and will remain Ukrainian and we will do anything to ensure this”, Vedem Boychenko said, talking about Sky News.

The mayor called on the whole world to join and secure weapons to enable Ukraine to win, stressing that everyone will return to their cities if that happens.

The sooner they reach the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the sooner we will be able to return home. I'm going home to Marioupol and the rest are going back to other cities. We have to make those decisions faster in one way or another. We need to understand that there is no other solution, there is no such thing. We Ukrainians should be given the opportunity to free our land”, he added.
