A Ukrainian official said a mass grave containing dozens of civilian bodies was found in the village of Bulova near Kiev, after Russian forces withdrew from areas north of the capital.
Taras Didych, head of the Dmytrivka community, which includes Busova, said the bodies were found in a hole near a gas station.
The troops had also been discovered in a dozen car grenades on a major road that runs through Busova, he said.
We're going back to life now, but during the invasion we had our hot spots, many civilians died,” said Didych on Ukrainian television on April 9th.
The United Nations has been able to confirm more than 1700 civilian deaths in Ukraine. But the actual death toll is believed to be much higher.
During the past week, images from Buka, the town in northeastern Kiev, triggered global reaction.
Local officials have said that more than 300 people have been killed by Russian forces in Butka alone, and about 50 of them have been executed.
Moscow has rejected these claims. / REL
