Macron explains after allegations that he did not call Russia's war genocide

Earlier this week, US President Joe Biden named Russia's actions genocide.

But, French President Emmanuel Macron refused to use the same word, saying the Russians and Ukrainians are brothers.

The “s carry a meaning and it is necessary to be careful because my role is to help bring peace or at least to the end of the fight”, he told a French radio.

Genocide has a clear legal definition and it is very difficult to testify in international courts.
