The United States of America welcomes Kosovo's aspirations for NATO membership, but according to them, requirements for membership are complex and require a long-term and deliberate approach.
So has a spokesperson for the US Embassy in Kosovo for News.net.
In this response, the United States says that as a staunch partner of Kosovo, it is committed to helping it take its rightful place alongside its neighbours in European and Euro-Atlantic institutions.
On the other hand, the US Embassy says Kosovo can better demonstrate its readiness for NATO membership responsibilities by continuing active implementation of the 10-year transition plan.
“We continue to support the Kosovo Security Force (FSK) as it makes significant and significant progress in its 10-year transition plan, which developed with US support”.
The aim of this plan is to build a multiethnic and territorial protection force interoperable by NATO under civilian control, which is not only capable of protecting Kosovo's territorial integrity but to contribute to global security efforts beyond the borders of Kosovo”, reports the news.net, broadcast Klaankosova.tv.
Kosovo can better demonstrate its readiness for NATO membership responsibilities by continuing to implement the active implementation of this 10-year transition plan”, the answer concludes.
Kosovo leaders' requests for NATO membership come after the start of the Russian invasion in Ukraine and fears of destabilising the Balkan region, especially from Serbia.
