At least six dead in the center of Sacramento

People took to the streets after automatic shooting broke out in an area filled with restaurants and bars.

Police officers closed the area after shooting in the early hours of Sunday.

They urged the public to present any information that could help identify the suspects.

Sacramento police chief Catherine Lester told reporters that the shooting was heard by officers near a huge crowd.

This is a truly tragic situation”, she said.

Police said the area where the shooting occurred has already been secured.

The “was simply horrible”, a witness said.

“As soon as I got up there, I saw a chaotic scene, police everywhere, blood victims all over their bodies, people screaming, crying and running away. Mothers crying and trying to identify their children”, he said.

The area where the shooting has taken place leads to the Golden One Center, the sports centre where the Samurato Kings basketball team holds the matches.
