Russian forces reportedly have withdrawn from Hostomel Airport, near the Ukrainian capital, which has been the scene of fighting since the start of the conflict, the United Kingdom military intelligence said.
Ukrainian power forces continue to advance against the withdrawal of Russian forces from the vicinity of Kiev”, the United Kingdom Defence Ministry said.
“Along the eastern Ukraine axis has recovered several villages. To the east of Ukraine, Ukrainian forces have managed to take a key route to Harkiv following heavy fighting”, the British Defence Ministry said in updated information Saturday.
There has been fierce combat in Hosttomel since February 24th, when Russian paratroopers arrived by helicopter and took control of this airport.
Hosttomel is a small town, but of great strategic importance. Before the war, it was the largest cargo airport in Ukraine and served as the main base for Ukrainian Air Force.
