Ambassador Jeff Houvenier through a writing on his Facebook account has said the US has had expectations regarding the process of selecting the next chief prosecutor.

International representatives, including members of the US Embassy, were invited to participate in KPK procedures on April 6th to elect the next chief state prosecutor. Our presence as observers should not be considered the adoption of the process or proceedings.
In some cases, the United States has expressed expectations for the process of selecting the future State Chief of State, which we believe will be shared with Kosovo citizens: being fair, objective, transparent and based on merit.
The fact that KKP members have not taken legitimate complaints into account, and the panel's recommendations are in conflict with that standard. The US did not have a preferred candidate, nor did we judge individual candidates' qualifications.
We are concerned about the way the KKP has developed these procedures, damaging the trust of the Kosovo public and our confidence in the KKP as a public institution.
