U n NICEF said there are a lot of other children whose numbers remain, who have moved in the country as the war continues.
The war in Ukraine is leading to massive shift and influx of refugees ʹ factors that could lead to a significant increase in human trafficking and an acute child protection crisis”, said Afjan Khan, regional director of the country. U n NICEF for Europe and Central Asia.
The displaced children are at risk of separating from their families, exploitation and trafficking”.
U n NICEF said those governments of the surrounding states must take measures to protect them and keep them safe.
Between February 24th and March 7th, U n NICEF said they identified more than 500 unique children passing from Ukraine to Romania. The overall figure of unique children going to neighbouring borders is likely to be much higher, the statement said.
To boost defence, the UN and civil society partners have established information centres in neighbouring Poland, identified as “Blue Dots” to provide essential family services.
U n NICEF also urges neighbouring Ukrainian governments to increase controls for protection of children on borders and key areas, such as train stations, where refugees pass.
