For days, Kiev residents had prepared for a column some 70 miles [70 km] of Russian tanks, armoured vehicles, and attractive artillery to arrive for an attack on the Ukrainian capital.
Days later, they're still waiting. On Thursday, the Ministry of Defence of Great Britain said the convoy appears to have stalled about 30 kilometers outside Kiev and made little apparent progress “” over the last three days, citing intelligence.
The main “Body of the large Russian column advancing to Kiev remains over 30km from the city centre, after being delayed by strong Ukrainian resistance, mechanical decay and deadlock. The column has made little apparent progress in more than three days,” is said in the statement.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby said last night that while Russia's largest column and push towards Kiev “the blocked”, there was a significant concern “that the window is probably closing to be able to receive aid in cities that could be made under a” siege.
A senior US defence official told reporters that although the convoy is suffering fuel shortages and food, the US have estimated that Russians “will again learn from these wrong steps and these obstacles and try to overcome them”.
The column's stalled progress could create numerous strategic problems for Russia, CNN broadcast.
