Alexei Mozyn, executive director for Russia in the global lending body, retained the dean's honor since 2015.
A spokesman for The IMF said it has temporarily suspended Mozyn “given Russia's role in the ongoing fight in Ukraine” and the country's possible impact on meeting this task.
This comes after pressure from other shareholder countries, including the US, Great Britain and Canada, the Financial Times reported.
The role is deputy manager, who heads the IMF executive board.
