Reliefs are expected for the procedure of family union in Germany

The family union in Germany currently presents many problems. But plans of the new German government coalition are expected to lead to a reduction in the waiting time for obtaining a visa. Since the entry into power of the Western Balkans, thousands of workers from Western Balkan countries have found jobs and started a life [...]
As a rule after two years, but depending on the type of permission to stay in Germany, they can join their families. Of course, certain criteria must be met, such as adequate income, regulated by the lawmaker, which would enable the husband/children or others to have a normal living from the family's or family's income wages. Language at certain levels is also required among other criteria for achieving the family union in Germany.
But although many meet the criteria, family members return to a time of distress, often desperate, waiting to get first a schedule for extending a visa request and then obtain a visa. A wait that does not rarely last a year. Exhausted by this, not a few people take their way to Germany, hoping to solve the visa problem in the country. One way family union experts do not recommend because family members then face other difficulties when regulations are not respected.
MPJ: There will be relief for visa procedure for family union
Germany's Foreign Ministry is aware of these delays. In a recent proposal for DW, the press office says that in the last two years, for example, at the embassies of Belgrade and Pristina, it has been managed to reduce the time of waiting for visas for the family union. And at embassies in Sarajevo, Skopje and Tirana, waiting times for a schedule for the family union's visa application further consists in 6 months and up to 9 months. There was no waiting time in Podgorica before the pandemic, and through the online system you could take a time within a few days.
The foreign ministry works intensively to increase foreign representation capacities abroad for accepting visa demand and processing, with the aim of reducing waiting time. But current efforts are also difficult because of the continuing state of pandemic and measures related to the protection of employees and visitors”, the Foreign Ministry's promotion in Berlin for DW said.
Few hopes may have the family union's applications for the future. Not only easing the state of pandemic, but also plans for the new German government coalition for the family union are expected to lead to improvement in the situation. Often asylum organisations or experts in Germany have raised their voices, that families have a right to union, and that it is unbearable to separate them for a long time. The ruling coalition parties, the SPD, the Green and Liberals have promised improvements. In the deal, it points out, that the <x0th visa connection will be accelerated and digitised more”.
The Berlin Foreign Ministry press office confirms this. “Crahas organising measures in the coalition deal are also envisioned further visa relief for the family union procedure, which after implementation can also lead to reduced waiting time.” The German Foreign Ministry told DW that for implementing these reliefs, which require partially even legal changes, this ministry is in exchange for closely with the relevant ministries. / DW/
