President Voldymyr Zelensky posthumously awarded him the Hero title of Ukraine, Ukraine's Air Force Command on Facebook announced.
According to Ukrainians Oksanchenko died in battle, attacking enemy planes.
According to the Telegram Operational Channel APU Oksanchenko had more than two thousand hours of flying and perfect performance of the hardest driving elements of the aircraft.
The bitter news is confirmed by the European Airlines Facebook page, where it wrote;
We've received tremendous shocking and sad news from Ukraine this morning: Colonel Oleksandri Oksanchenko lost his life Friday evening when his plane crashed over Kiev by Russian air defence.
Oksanchenko was known as “Ujku Gri” of the Ukrainian Air Force. /abcnews. al
