Speaking after an extraordinary NATO summit in Brussels that coincided with the summits of G7 and the European Council, Stoltenberg said 30 defence alliance leaders had agreed to send Ukraine tools for discovery, protection and medical supplies, as well as training for decontamination and crisis management.
“We are taking measures to support Ukraine and defend ourselves”, Stoltenberg said.
“NATO is concerned that Russia could try to create a “performing <x1x2> for the planned use of such weapons in war, for example by accusing Kiev or other countries of producing chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine”, Stoltenberg said.
Regarding details about how these “defence elements” would protect NATO members, a military source said a battalion-sized force involving about 400 trained soldiers to prevent and address the use of chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear weapons would be placed on high alert.
