NATO opens 750,000 euro tender for KFOR biometric equipment

The NATO Agency for Communications and Information (NCI) has published a document concerning the opening of the tender for biometric registration equipment dedicated to the KFOR peacekeeping force. The tender offers for NATO's Identification of Biometric Intelligence amount to 750 thousand euros.

According to the document, with this tender intended to secure KFOR's six sets of office-based biometric registration equipment.

According to the same document, eight additional sets of these devices (six as spare and two for mobile registration at the checkpoints) that present “minimal macrodalites” of the facial biometric, fingerprints and iris”, writes Biometricuptate.com.

The NATO Agency for Communications and Information has confirmed among other things that it is planning to publish the formal call for bidding in the third quarter of this year, aiming at the deal by the fourth quarter of 2022.

“More specifically, the goal is to help KFOR's main authority, (department) J2X Vetting Cell, in conducting verification and review of local employees. The winner will be “producing, establishing, installing fixed and biometric portable equipment and ensuring maintenance and updates of biometric registration equipment”, the document says.

The NCI agency has already made public the initial list of bidders, including companies: Athos, Thales, Honeywell and Parsons.

The North-Altantic Alliance has deployed its soldiers under its peacekeeping mission in Kosovo on June 12th 1999.

Currently, around 3600 troops are engaged in KFOR.
