The head of Ukraine's northern city, Chernihiv, has rejected Moscow's claim of a reduction of operations, following what he describes as a “colossal “attack”.
His statements came after it was discovered that the city was “below fire” from Russian air strikes as grants continued overnight, according to Viacheslav Chaus, head of the Serbnihiv regional administration.
In an interview for CNN, the town's mayor Vladyslav Atrosenko rejected Russia's claim Tuesday that it planned to eventually “” its military attack on Chernihiv and Ukrainian capital Kiev.

Russia made that claim Tuesday following talks with Ukrainian representatives in Turkey. The suggestion seemed to indicate signs of progress towards a deviation outside the conflict.
But according to Atrosencos, the hostilities actually increased in Chernihiv since the claim was made.

In a post in Telegram on Wednesday, Chaus said the situation in the region had not changed despite claims by Russia.
He said Russian troops had carried out attacks in the town of Nizhyn, destroying “civil infrastructure” as well as “bliotecas, shopping centres and many residential buildings”, while in Chernihiv “there is no electricity, no water, no heat and gas. ”
Communications have ceased without “no opportunity to restore them”, making it difficult to reach isolated villages, he added.

Ukrainian troops are prepared and fighting against Russian troops in the Chernihiv region, he added.
