According to police protests in both cities have gone smoothly and without incident.
“Rr. Lola Ribare, Mitrovica North (NN) 25.03.2022 over 12:00. A protest has been held in a sign of disappointment over the ban on Serbia's election vote on the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. Around 12:44, the protests are over and citizens are scattered. There is no reported incident”, says the report.
“Gracanica 25.03.2022 11:25. Some citizens reportedly have protested in Gracanica over failing to allow Serbia's elections in R. Kosovo. The protest has ended peacefully”, said further in the announcement.
Serbs in northern Mitrovica have protested yesterday, after failing to reach an agreement to organise Serbia's national elections in Kosovo. Protest has gone without incident. For protests in the north, Prime Minister Kurti had information two days earlier.
Various banners have appeared there, one of which criticised Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Whenever you broke the Brussels deal, you broke all”, said the banner.
At the start of the protest was Serbian List leader Goran Rakiq. He also gave a speech.
Rakiq, in his speech, said that all of the involvement of the Serb community in Kosovo institutions would suspend their work, due to the suspension of the chairman of the Constitutional Court in Mitrovica, Ljiljana Stevanovic.
Stevanovic was dismissed after attending a meeting in Belgrade, handing Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, earlier this week.
“According to the information we received this morning, me and the mayors of the municipalities, the judges of the Serbian Nationality, and the workers of the court, the judicial organs today have not gone to work. From today in support of the dismissed Court Speaker, they too have been suspended and so will be until Ljiljana Stevanovic does not return to work”, Rakic said from the protest.
“Since today, all of us, political representatives working in Kosovo institutions, have been suspended and will not perform any duties until the tribunal's president, Ljiljana Stevanovic, is returned. This also means that all police representatives have been suspended and will not perform the task until Ljiljana Stevanoviqi is returned to her country” has said Rakic.
We're not gonna work any of us until we get the judge back to work. Nobody's scared, I'm sending orders to Kurt and the police in the North. We'll stay here and fight for our rights. We don't want anything more than Albanians do. We don't want to take anything from someone, we just want it to belong to” he added.
But, Northern Mitrovica Community has exposed Serbian List leader
Northern Mitrovica municipality Deputy Chairman Adriana Hodzic has said the municipality is open and that no work has been halted.
In a proposal for Express, she said that each citizen could go and receive the service he needs.
We're working. Political decisions are one, and at the technical level we're all working. The municipality is open to every citizen, for whatever service they ask for”, Hodzic said.
