International Day of Happiness is celebrated today

World Day of Happiness is celebrated worldwide every year on March 20. The purpose of the International Day of Happiness is to raise awareness of the value of happiness in someone's life and the overall impact it can have on one's well-being.

This day aims to spread the message that a nation's progress should be an increase in human happiness and well - being, not just economic growth.

“Return happier” is the theme for 2022 and aims to achieve the global recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

On July 12, 2012, the United Nations General Assembly declared March 20 as the International Day of Happiness, recognizing the importance of happiness and prosperity as shared goals and ambitions in people's lives worldwide.

Despite the country's many problems, Kosovars rank very high as happy people. By “Gallup” in the world, Kosovo is 32nd for this positive feeling, while in the region it is first.

Some of the citizens say that they have imposed happiness on themselves, putting their troubles aside, and others have learned to be content with what they have.

But listing as the happiest in this measurement, according to psychologist Ilir Havolli, is the result of freedom from pandemic, family reunification.

However, cases of mental health are on the rise because of COVID-19.

In the Gallup report where the Finnishs hold the primat of the happiest people in the world, Kosovars leave Serbia behind in 43rd place, Montenegro in 75th, northern Macedonia in the 89th, and one higher Albania as the most unhappy in the region.
