The move follows similar measures taken by European countries and Canada in response to Ukraine's Russian occupation.
Speaking to the U.S. Congress about the situation in the country, Beden said the stop would isolate Russia even more and increase its economy.
Russian Rubla has lost 30% of its value, Biden said.
The West has imposed severe sanctions against Russia for military intervention in Ukraine.
Sanctions include the expulsion of several Russian banks from the global banking system SWIFT.
