The 1986 disaster site was based on emergency oil generators for energy since 9 March after its power supply lines were damaged during the fighting.
Ukrainian specialists' “Ekips managed at the weekend to repair one of the two damaged lines linking the thermal power plant to the power grid,” said in the IAEA statement.
He said oil generators had now been turned off, but that it remains unclear “if it would be possible to repair the second power line of high blood pressure”.
The agency adds that Ukraine's nuclear regulator had told her that Russia's control of the radioactive waste facilities at Chernobyl was restricting the flow of information, which means it could answer all IAEA questions completely.
The regulator said for the first time today that the information he received about Cornobilin was “controlled by Russian military forces” and therefore he couldn't “always provide detailed answers to all of the IAA questions”, the IAA said.
