“We again face a complete sabotage of the Bulgarian prosecution led by Mr. Ivan Gesev”, Petkov was quoted as saying by the Bulgarian news agency BTA.
Petkov and Interior Minister Boyko Raskov last night held an extraordinary news conference in which they commented on Borisov's ban and release.
“are hiding documents that can lead to charges, which we can easily get. Information is also being deleted and ignored to prevent a legal investigation,”, the prime minister said after Borisov was released from custody.
Former Prime Minister and party leader G ERB, Boyko Borisov, was arrested Thursday evening along with former Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov and his media adviser Sevdalina Arnaudova and released the following day.
After their release, prosecutors said they did not have enough information to indict them. Petkov said the prosecution was obstructing the work of anyone trying to deal with corruption in Bulgaria.
There is a serious problem for the Bulgarian prosecution, and it is that the European Public Prosecutor EEPO is working on this case. As the facts usually become dark and the Bulgarian public remains unable to see what is happening, there is now a European parallel structure in which we trust the most,” said Petkov.
He stressed that Bulgaria will no longer be a captive state and will do everything “to become a normal European state”.
