Former Defence Minister Anton Quinn said the draft resolution proposed by his party (LDK) to condemn Russian aggression in Ukraine and government decisions following Russia's attack in Ukraine are in the same spirit.
However, he says he does not know whether this is just a coincidence in attitude or an agreement between the executive and this opposition party.
The moment the Russian forces attack on Ukrainian territory was carried out, this concern has been addressed within the leadership and structure, and as a result of these tests by our offices and by President Lumir Abdixhiku has been proposed a resolution that we believe will be addressed in parliament tomorrow. The good news of this is that when we talk about unity, the government's decision to take measures to build capacity and others is in the spirit of this resolution. Is there any agreement or is coincidence I don't know, but the important thing is that we all agree to take all the measures and actions to build the capabilities of different security segments at the right level. In addition to that in the resolution, I believe that it will be the compatibility of all political parties, there will be requirements that state authorities have additional strong commitment to the requirement to be a NATO and EU member”.
Quani, at “Rubicon” of Kosovo, believes that with the war taking place in Ukraine and the risk of the situation straining even in the Balkans, a moment has developed when Kosovo's demand to be part of the Atlantic Alliance can be handled more closely.
I believe in this new situation every nation and state are reviewing security policies. Not only separately but also within organisations such as NATO. Perhaps our wish that has been expressed long ago and there has been no willingness to be treated now we are in a different environment, and I am quite sure that our demand will have more special attention because the danger that has surfaced in Ukraine due to the traditional historical binding and mutual support Russia and Serbia have had in different situations, that danger can be carried to the Balkans that is sensitive because of some issues that have been dealt with by some epilogue that would guarantee peace and security in the region. We have the Kosovo issue, which would have to dialogue with Serbia for the final epilogue, which is mutual recognition, and we have the issue of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where more and more Serbian nationalists are raising the voices for reshaping this state”.
I am strongly convinced that with the language of facts and arguments, as this issue is addressed to the authorities who take into account the arguments, it will also be in the benefit of the NATO and EU authorities to take adequate measures so that this crisis does not spread to our region”.
Quinn has said that Kosovo should seek powerful U.S., Great Britain, Germany and other friendly states to convince non-recognition states that are members of NATO that will also benefit Kosovo as soon as possible from the alliance.
