Russian military invasion in Ukraine is having a negative impact every day, even on international markets. Such a crisis has hit Kosovo's economy by bringing expensive production of various products, especially for the constantly priced oil derivatives.
Fuel prices are among the first factors that are constantly being raised in Kosovo these days. Since yesterday, the price of derivatives in the country has risen for 10 cents per litre.
While fuel prices have reached as much as 1 euro and 50 cents, Oil Association Chairman Fadil Berjan warns that prices are expected to reach up to 1 euro and 80 cents.
The prices yesterday were 1 euro and 40 cents, today they have reached 1 euro and 50 cents. There's been extreme growth. For our citizens these prices are very expensive, but it's not up to us, it's happening all over the world. Today, the price of oil is 1 euro and 45 cents, gasoline 1 euro and 50 cents. So now when you're talking prices are for $50 a ton getting expensive. No stopping right now. This is happening all over the world. The production organization O The PEK has reduced production, and the war that is taking place in Ukraine, these have made history not to have prices as high as they are so far... As the trend continues, to us prices will become 1.70 cents to 1.80 cents, while in countries in the region, in Albania and Serbia will reach up to 2.50 cents”, he points out.
In addition to the Government's decision on oil gain margins, Chairman Behrani has asked the executive to review the decision, since, according to him, it is wrong and bankrolls many companies.
“Today at 11:00, I have a meeting with the Minister of Commerce, as far as the government's decision is concerned, a decision that hurts and banks many companies, where there will be many unemployed workers. I think this decision needs to be revised and I believe they'll be understanding, because importators have been given 4 per cent, while retail vendors are 6 per cent. This is very wrong”, he says.
