Tirana, February 11th 2022 Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi on the second day of his official visit to Tirana has met today with Albanian Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha, where they discussed current political developments in Kosovo and Albania and deepening co-operation between the PDK and the DP.
Krasniqi expressed satisfaction with the hospitality and thanked Basha for his willingness to reinforce co-operation and co-ordination between the two parties belonging to the same ideological axis.
“It's really fun that the second day of my first official visit as chairman The PDK will start at the Democratic Party here in Albania with my friend and opposition leader Lulzim Basha, not only as two opposition leaders in our two countries, but also as two party leaders who have been co-operating for many years and bilaterally, but also at international forums as two parties belonging to the same ideological centre-right axis. ”, he said.
Leader of The PDK stressed that beyond that, in the meeting, details were discussed on topics of common concern.
“Kosovo and Albania have many areas where it needs to intensify co-operation to increase co-ordination and institutional, and it has always been and is a good example that regardless of whether we are in government or in opposition in our countries, we need to intensify Kosovo, Albania we have undisputed co-operation and priority priorities, so I rejoice that both as two leaders of the main opposition parties in Kosovo and Albania, we appreciate that our obligations and responsibilities to deepen this co-operation among our states are shared duty and responsibility.<1> said Krasniqi.
Meanwhile, DP chairman Lulzim Basha praised The PDK for the extraordinary role it has played in the process of forming the state of Kosovo and for the role it continues to play as a constructive opposition in the service of the interests of Kosovo citizens, and wished good work to President Memli Krasniqi as representative of a new generation of leadership and as a good example for all Albanian youth that it is time to bear the burden that politics brings.
“Of course, we talked about recent developments, in particular about the development of dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and Serbia, where the PDK stands strongly in the same position as to the objective of this dialogue, which is mutual recognition between the two countries, and in particular shares the view that the return of a powerful co-ordination between the EU and US states is a good chance to push this dialogue forward and overcome obstacles, where certainly a major burden belongs to the EU and the 5 member states, recognition of the reality of the Republic of Kosovo will ultimately avoid any scenarios like any scenario in Bosnia that threaten the architecture and stability of the Balkans, but also the European peace and peace, he said.
Basha said they also discussed the necessity of strengthening the fight against corruption by independent institutions and all of this in the function of civic welfare, because the main enemy of civic welfare as in Albania as in Kosovo remains weak institutions and the fight against corruption, which should be the priority of any politician from any position.
“Meanwhile Albania has a permanent task, but at the current moment even more important as a temporary member of the Security Council to push with all force and ways ahead of any aspect that concerns Kosovo and its citizens, in particular in the continuation of international recognition, that of membership in international institutions and the Democratic Party here not only will it stop pushing not only from the opposition positions currently, but it will not save Albania anything that can in order for Kosovo to have the maximum benefits of real, close and productive co-operation between Albania and the political level of Kosovo, he said.
