Local police spokesman David Callupka has made the news known, reports “Ceske Noviny”.
Six employees were forced to leave the building. The local road is closed, and a nearby kindergarten has been evacuated as well.
Police, firemen, ambulances, and the evacuation bus are on the scene.
The consulate had information from the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about what needs to be taken care of.
When mail officials saw a package showing signs of the bomb today, they called the police.
Our consul in Brno called the police, the package that arrived seemed suspicious. The police arrived immediately and immediately began their work. Consulates and adjacent buildings have been evacuated, results of the police investigation are pending”, said Tetyana Opolna, spokesperson for the Ukraine Embassy in Prague.
According to her, security protocols have been drafted, which should follow all embassies.
“We have a person at the embassy who is responsible for this, at the consulate in Brno, the consul is responsible for this, who has followed the instructions that are set”, the spokeswoman said.
Police said on Twitter that suspicious cargo was similar to those caught in Spain.
We're checking the X-ray package. Together with the fire department, we evacuated the building and the district, including garden”, police said.
They also urged all consulate employees in the Czech Republic and business companies producing weapons materials to be extremely careful when checking the incoming mail and calling in case of doubt.
On Friday, the Ukraine Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the continuation of a targeted terror campaign and intimidation of Ukraine's embassies abroad.
