The big storm also brought conditions similar to the storm in Midwest, by roads and by schools, and some areas reported 1.2m snow.
About 3300 flights have been delayed, and more than 150 have been cancelled.
About 500 thousand people in four countries: Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Minnesota are under warning of storms, strong winds, and heavy snowfall that make travel difficult.
Strong storms are predicted along the Gulf Coast, including Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and parts of Florida. There are also warnings of tornadoes in parts of Louisiana and Mississippi.
