Tourist season this year in Albania was held by Kosovars, Italians, Poles and Germans

Even during the summer season we just left behind, the main burden of foreign visitors kept the entrance from Kosovo at 15.3% of total tourists, both domestic and foreign.

Official figures of the citizens' movement published by the Statistics Institute make clear the fact that Kosovo citizens have the biggest tourist contribution in the country, following local ones.

According to INSTAT, about 37% of the total visitors to the country, considered domestic tourists.

After domestic tourists, Kosovo citizens rank. The entrances of citizens from Kosovo, who had the main weight of tourism during the June-September 2022 period ranged from 11%-16.7% month after month (see the graph at the end).

The innovation for this season was 2.6% foreign tourists who visited the country, mainly during the month of June, following several shortages from the UK.

European citizens are increasingly showing interest in Albania. The importance of the latter lies in the fact that non-resident tourists are the ones who bring the most revenue into the economy, and that's what the increase of orders in bars, restaurants, hotels, increased liquidity, etc.

From Kosovo, unorganized tourists dominate in their cars, while Polish people come mainly through tourist agencies.

In all, during four months of the 2022 tourist season, 62.5% of visitors to the country were foreign tourists, the rest of the country.

However, the crisis has also affected foreign visitors, who are appearing more limited in spending. Fatos Cherenesti, Administrator “The FAFA Group”, which provides major accommodation capacities in the Golem area, claims that the year 2022 overall, with the summer season as the main part, has been good for the hotel.

But, it adds, although there is an increase in the number of tourists, their expenses have been low, especially in spending outside the package, in the bar-restorant.

This segment has shown contractions in revenues, and I understand it is the tendency of saving, but also the lowest opportunities to spend on individuals and families, in the cost of living costs we are all facing, he claims.
