Asked how Croatia will be positioned in the event of escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, Croatian President Zoran Milanovic responded by saying that if it comes to the Ukraine-Russia military confrontation, it will pull it to the last soldier.

“I don't know anything about it and I'm the general commander of the army, I am seeing statements that NATO is adding its presence there. We have nothing and we won't have anything to do with it, I guarantee it. Not only will we not send, but if the last Croatian soldier, the last and has nothing to do with Ukraine or Russia”, Milanovic answered the question of how Croatia will be positioned in the event of the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

It is not fully clear whether Milanovic intended to say he would not send Croatian troops to Ukraine, as NATO not only has no plans to send forces to the country, but its Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has openly indicated that the alliance has no plans to intervene. Ukraine, because that “country is not covered by the clause for NATO collective protection, because Ukraine is not a NATO member”, as he said at the beginning of the month after the NATO ministers' meeting in Brussels.
