One of the leading KLA figures, Xhavit Haliti, has said Kurti was part of the KLA, but that his role was minority.
Haliti has cited a disagreement that, according to him, Kurti has had with KLA structures and has been barred from speaking on behalf of the KLA.
“I know the time when he committed himself, is engaged in Mr. Demac's office, and Demac has been in charge of building Kosovo's assembly at the time of the war. Whether he was in battle or not that I didn't know, I wasn't even here, but his role in the KLA was a minority. I talked to Adam's base for Kurti, he was a good connoisseur of Serbian and English, but Albanian, and he gave Mr. Adam many translations, but he had a problem with KLA structures and he was forbidden to speak on behalf of the KLA.
