Course, called “Decostructuring Drake & The Weekly”, The Weeknd) will be offered in the winter semester starting in January 2022, according to Rory Professor - In-Residence Dalton Higgins, who will teach in class.
It is time for our Canadian rap and R&B icons to be recognized and canonized academically or otherwise,” said Higgins. “And it's critical for researchers and historians to examine the Toronto music scene that gave birth to Drake/Weeknd and helped create conditions for them to become mega-professive. ”
The class will be offered as one of the main courses for the BA Professional Music Programme of the Creator School, “The first university in interdisciplinary music program”, according to the university.
