Macedonian Health Minister: I do not resign until I complete the investigation into tragedy

Macedonian Health Minister Venko Filipce has dismissed doubts about the quality of building the module hospital in Tetovo, which on Wednesday evening was completely burned, leaving 14 patients dead, while 12 others with bodily injuries. He said that Wednesday and Thursday all documentation has been investigated for [...]
He said that on Wednesday and Thursday the entire documentation for procurement and installation of the module hospital has been investigated and no concessions have been noted, while investigations, according to him, will testify how the facility is managed after it is put to work.
I have with me all the procurement and installation documentation for module and whole hospitals in line with strict standards and procedures, based on such projects supported by the World Bank. The investigation should determine whether it was properly used after surrender,” Philipce said.
He did not elaborate on the investigation details, saying that at the time of the hospital explosion there were 26 patients, two doctors and four nurses. The autopsy also specified the age of the dead whose bodies were sent to legal medicine.
The dead are aged 29 to 79. Twelve patients who were in the module hospital have now been admitted to Tetovo Hospital and are in stable health condition. There are no dead health workers”, the minister of health said.
Regarding the presence of close family of patients at the module hospital, Filipce said it is not in line with protocols, and the investigation will have to determine what happened.
He assured citizens that all hospitals are safe, so he also called for no confusion and uncertainty in the opinion on dealing with coronary patients.
“No one will be excluded from responsibility if the investigation determines this”, Health Minister Venko Filipce said.
Once the investigation is complete, I will make the decision if I resign. I find it difficult to describe my feelings and pain with the families of the victims. I am not fleeing the responsibility and findings of the investigation, neither morally, but let the investigation be completed”, Filipce stated.
Wednesday's fire is believed to be widespread by the explosion of gas canisters or oxygen.
Authorities have proclaimed three days of mourning as a result of this incident.
