A 57-year-old Muslim cleric in the Indian town of Muzaffarnagar, Hazra died after being attacked to death by one of his two wives after wanting to marry for the third time.

According to local reports, Maulvi Vakil Ahmad's second wife, Hazra attacked her after he made a deaf ear to her prayers not to take her third wife.

Hazra told police that her husband was planning to marry another woman, which caused a heated dispute between the two.

Later that night, while the clergyman was asleep, Hazra took a kitchen knife and cut off his genital organs.

The accused woman then tried to perform his final rites with the help of her relatives. Someone in the neighborhood suspected and called the police. After being interrogated by the police, the woman accepted the crime.
