This announcement by the European drug regulator comes at a time when European Union states have said that by September they will begin giving the third dosage for the significant part of the population.
Although EMA has said it needs more data to recommend the third dose, Germany and France have said they will continue with their plans to manage strengthening doses.
The World Health Organization has also called on Wednesday to stop administering reinforcements until more people worldwide are vaccinated.
It's actually too early to confirm whether and when the reinforcement would be needed against COVID-19 because we still don't have enough data from the vaccination campaigns and from the studies that are under way to understand how long the protection of vaccines” last Friday, EMA said.
Following reports that Berlin and official Paris plan to manage third doses, a European Commission spokesman said the decisions on the vaccine are in the hands of the bloc's member states governments, but stressed that the EU encourages member states to make decisions on the issue that are in line with the recommendations of the European Barna Agency. /Rel
