“US will not stop”, State Department urges Serbia to whitewash the murder of the Bytyqi brothers

State Department spokesman Ned Price, on the 22nd anniversary of the murder of the Bytyci brothers, has asked Serbia's authorities to investigate and bring to justice individuals responsible for their 1999 murder in Serbia. Price tweeted that the US would not stop until [...]
Price wrote on Twitter that the United States will not stop until the murder case of the Bytyci brothers is resolved.
“Once again, we call on Serbian authorities to investigate and bring to justice those responsible for the killings of US citizens Agron, Star and Mehmet Bytyqi in 1999. The United States will not stop calling for a solution to this case”, the State Department spokesman has written.
From the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, they have said that dawning the case of killing the Bytyqi brothers and holding the perpetrators accountable remains a priority as far as bilateral reports with Serbia are concerned, reports Express.
The US Embassy in Belgrade says it will never forget such a crime and that it has asked Serbian authorities to impose justice in the case.
“22 years have passed since three Americans, Star, Agron and Mehmet Bytyqi disappeared while being held in custody by Serbia's special police units. Their troops were later found at a base in Petrovo Selo, east of Serbia, under the control of the unit led by Goran Radosavljevic ão Guri. The Bytyqi brothers were executed, shot in the head with their hands tied behind their backs, yet after more than two decades there has been no full investigation. We can't and won't forget this crime. Establishing justice for the Bytyqi brothers and their family and holding responsible those who committed and covered their killings remains a priority in bilateral reports with Serbia. The United States government again calls on Serbian authorities, who have promised to help in this case for years, for a thorough investigation. This case and many others illustrate the urgent need for Serbia to resolve unresolved war crimes investigations and focus on strengthening the rule of law”, the US Embassy's announcement said.
The American Embassy has reacted even days before, after Goran Radosavljevic ú Guri was honoured by Serbian authorities, until for the same, they have doubts that there is hand in the case of the Bytyqi brothers.
