Russia's ambassador to Belgrade: Pressure on Serbia to recognise Kosovo won't succeed

Ruria Ambassador to Belgrade Aleksandar Bocan Kharchenko has said pressure on Serbia to recognise Kosovo will not succeed, as President Vuciq's position is consistent and dignified. “given Serbia's position at various stages of Kosovo status negotiations and the most stable position [...]
“given Serbia's position in various phases of Kosovo status negotiations and the most stable position of President Vuciq, I think such pressure will now not do what those using it would like to receive from Serbia”, the Russian ambassador told Tanjug, broadcast the Express newspaper.
He thus answered the question if he believes Serbia can resist pressure to recognise Kosovo's independence and that one of the arguments for pressure is Serbia's co-operation with Russia and China.
Serbia's “Location is quite clear and sustainable, recognition is impossible and there is readiness for negotiations and compromise,” Bocan-Kharchenko added.
He also remembered that red lines should be taken into account.
“As for Russia, we are a permanent member of the Security Council, we are always with Serbia and Serbia can always rely on Russia, but no solution to the Kosovo issue can be found without Security Council consent and approval,”, Bocan-Kharchenko said.
